Job Summary

This role involves managing nature conservation and monitoring projects within the Hainich National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. As part of the lower nature conservation authority, the successful candidate will be responsible for drafting expert opinions, conducting impact assessments (such as FFH and species protection reviews), and implementing conservation measures in open landscapes, including grazing projects. Day-to-day tasks include coordinating monitoring activities, awarding contracts, and collaborating on management plans related to Natura 2000. Additionally, the role encompasses public relations, organizing specialist conferences, and conducting training for staff and volunteers. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor or Diploma) in Nature Conservation, (Landscape) Ecology, Biology, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in project management, specifically regarding nature conservation and monitoring projects with Natura 2000 relevance
  • Practical experience in assessing species protection concerns for development projects
  • Experience in open land management and grazing projects is preferred
  • Professional experience in a comparable role, such as within a nature conservation authority, is desirable
  • Experience in awarding contracts and coordinating third-party research projects
