Job Summary

This role involves overseeing research and monitoring projects within the Hainich National Park, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. As a Research and Monitoring Officer, you will be responsible for developing concepts, administering projects, and coordinating species and habitat protection measures, particularly under Natura 2000. Your day-to-day tasks include organizing field research, managing external contracts, documenting results in specialized information systems, and providing expert input for nature conservation statements. Additionally, you will engage in public relations and educational work, such as organizing technical conferences and training sessions for staff and volunteers. This position is ideal for an individual with a strong interest in forest and animal ecology who wants to contribute to the preservation of one of Central Europe's most significant beech forests. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Diploma/Bachelor) in Forestry Science, Ecology, Biology, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in project management, specifically regarding monitoring and research projects
  • Practical experience in forest and animal ecology and general species identification
  • Experience in implementing species and habitat protection measures (e.g., Natura 2000)
  • Previous professional experience in a comparable field of activity is preferred
  • Experience in public relations, technical publishing, or organizing conferences
