Job Summary
The Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) is seeking an experienced leader to head their Building Management group at the Garching campus. In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of 20 professionals across technical, infrastructural, and commercial building management sectors. You will be responsible for the maintenance, modernization, and technical infrastructure of approximately 65 buildings, including green spaces and traffic areas. Your daily responsibilities include disciplinary leadership, process optimization, ensuring legal compliance for technical systems, and managing external service providers ranging from catering to technical maintenance. Required Skills
Education
University degree in Engineering with a focus on Electrical Engineering, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning), Facility Management, or Industrial Engineering.
Experience
- Extensive professional experience in strategic planning and implementation of facility management processes
- Proven leadership experience, ideally in a management position overseeing multidisciplinary teams
- Professional experience in technical building management and compliance with relevant legal regulations
- Experience in managing technical documentation and using CAFM software
- Experience in coordinating internal and external service providers and managing real estate portfolios

- The role requires the ability to lead a team of 20 employees. Location is Garching near Munich. Must be able to manage a portfolio of 65 buildings and ensure legal operational safety (SV-testing, maintenance, and inspections).
