Job Summary

As a Big Data Scientist for the Services Analytics Plateau, you will join an Agile Scrum team at the forefront of Airbus Defence and Space’s analytics capabilities. You will be responsible for the end-to-end data lifecycle, from identifying high-impact organizational problems and performing exploratory data analysis to developing production-ready code in Python. Your daily work involves 'data wrangling', creating and validating machine learning models, and building ELT pipelines using Spark. A key part of this role is acting as a pioneer by driving new data governance models and presenting complex findings to stakeholders ranging from engineers to senior management. This position is particularly attractive due to its focus on large-scale aircraft data and the opportunity to work within a diverse international environment of over 140 nationalities, supported by extensive benefits including employee stock options and flexible working models in Manching.

Required Skills

Education

Master of Science (ideally Ph.D.) in Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience in data-driven projects, preferably in an Agile environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in processing and analyzing aircraft sensor and maintenance data
  • Hands-on experience in developing and implementing health monitoring and predictive maintenance models for the aerospace sector
  • Experience working in Big Data projects using Spark and Spark-Submit Jobs
  • Experience in Python coding within a production environment and front-end application development
