Job Summary
This role is based within the Special Units department of the Rhineland-Palatinate Police (PP ELT) in Mainz. As an IT Network Specialist, you will be responsible for the planning, setup, operation, and maintenance of network structures specifically for Counter-UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) technology. Your daily tasks include administering local and regional networks to ensure secure data transmission between sensors, configuring firewalls and VPNs, and managing Synology NAS systems. You will also handle the inventory and coordination of electronic end devices and serve as a technical point of contact for manufacturers. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on high-security, future-oriented technical solutions for law enforcement. The role is attractive due to its flexible working hours, comprehensive health management, and the stability of a public service contract (TV-L E 12) with potential for additional specialist allowances.
Required Skills
Education
Bachelor's or Fachhochschule degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Communications Engineering, or a comparable IT-related field of study.
Experience
- Professional experience in planning, building, and operating network structures
- Demonstrated experience in the administration of Microsoft operating systems and Synology firmware
- Experience in hardware configuration and data transmission networks
- Experience in IT and data security within critical infrastructures
- Experience with EU Drone Regulations and relevant legal frameworks preferred

- Must undergo a security clearance (Sicherheitsüberprüfung) according to the State Security Check Act. Must be physically fit to work at heights. Requires a commitment to the free democratic basic order. Location: Mainz, Germany.
