Job Summary

This role involves leading the conceptual and preparatory phases for the new Roman Museum in Augsburg, as well as managing current archaeological exhibition operations. As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating technical requirements across various city departments, including culture and construction. A significant portion of the role involves overseeing the Augsburg-specific implementation of the State Exhibition in collaboration with regional partners. This includes developing detailed project plans for construction, exhibition operations, and logistics such as public transport connectivity and marketing. Additionally, you will be tasked with the continuous development of the 'Roman Camp' interim exhibition and the creation of innovative educational concepts to make Roman heritage visible throughout the city. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape a major cultural institution and manage a high-profile historical project until at least April 2030, making it ideal for professionals passionate about museum management and urban archaeology.

Required Skills

Education

University degree in a relevant field (e.g., Archaeology, Museum Studies, Cultural Management, or History) sufficient for TVöD Entgeltgruppe 12 classification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in project management, specifically within a museum or cultural heritage context
  • Experience in coordinating multi-departmental projects involving construction and technical requirements
  • Proven track record in exhibition conception and operational management
  • Experience in budget management and resource allocation for large-scale public projects
