Job Summary

This role involves joining the newly formed Digital Science Support Team at TU Braunschweig, a joint initiative between the University Library and the Gauß IT Center. You will provide direct technical support to researchers in areas such as Research Software Engineering (RSE), High-Performance Computing (HPC), and Research Data Management (RDM). Day-to-day responsibilities include supporting specific research projects with software optimization and parallelization, developing governance policies for digitalization, and conducting specialized workshops. This position is unique as it allows you to actively shape the profile of Research Software Engineers in Germany while working at the intersection of AI, numerical simulation, and large-scale computing. It offers a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment with the potential for academic publications and strategic networking within the national RSE and HPC communities.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master's or equivalent), preferably in a STEM field. A PhD is considered an ideal qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in software development within a scientific or academic environment
  • Experience in research data management (RDM) fundamentals
  • Experience with modern software development methodologies and parallel programming
  • Proven experience in coordinating, organizing, and consulting within a professional setting
  • Experience in conducting workshops or educational training is preferred
  • Active involvement or networking within the RSE, HPC, or FDM communities is highly desirable

Additional
