Job Summary

This permanent, full-time role at the State Institute for the Environment Baden-Württemberg (LUBW) in Karlsruhe focuses on the conservation of protected biotopes and habitats. You will be responsible for coordinating various mapping and monitoring programs, including open-land biotope mapping and ecosystem monitoring. Your day-to-day tasks involve managing field mapping operations, training mappers, ensuring data quality, and developing conceptual frameworks for data collection. A significant part of the role includes utilizing remote sensing data and potentially AI-supported methods to advance survey methodologies. You will also provide technical support for the development of nature conservation software and advise authorities on the implementation of the Habitats Directive.
