Job Summary

This role involves supporting the Lake Research Institute (ISF) within the 'Water' department, focusing on physical and sedimentological investigations of lakes, particularly Lake Constance. The Technical Assistant will be responsible for organizing and executing measurement trips using boats and vehicles to collect various media samples (sediment, water, suspended solids) from lakes and tributaries. A significant portion of the work involves independent laboratory analysis, including Laserdiffractometry, X-ray Diffractometry, and Elemental Analysis, while strictly adhering to quality assurance protocols (LIMS). You will also handle the self-sufficient evaluation, visualization, and plausibility checking of measurement data using tools like MS Excel and preparing data for database integration. The ideal candidate holds a qualification as a State-Certified Technical Assistant in a relevant scientific field and possesses professional experience in environmental sample processing and soil analysis. This is a permanent position offering meaningful work focused on environmental protection and climate preservation in a competent team.

Required Skills

Education

State-Certified Technical Assistant in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Protection, or comparable qualification (e.g., Laboratory Technician)

Experience

  • Professional experience in laboratory work

  • Experience handling quality-assured laboratory workflows

Languages

German (Intermediate)

Additional

  • Valid car driver's license (PKW-Führerschein); Good physical constitution for fieldwork, including working on small boats; Ideally, knowledge of driving vehicles with trailers.
