Job Summary

This role involves working within the LC-Contaminants and LC-Service department at the Chemical and Veterinary Investigation Office (CVUA) Freiburg. As a Chemical Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for the homogenization of plant and animal samples and the extraction of organic contaminants like PFAS and marine biotoxins using advanced techniques such as automated Solid Phase Extraction (SPE). You will play a key role in the EU Reference Laboratory (EURL) for persistent organic pollutants by developing, optimizing, and validating analytical methods. The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to consumer protection and food safety while working with state-of-the-art Liquid Chromatography (LC) and Ion Chromatography (IC) systems. It is a collaborative role that includes documenting results in a Laboratory Information and Management System (LIMS), implementing quality management standards, and mentoring trainees and interns in a modern laboratory environment.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Chemical Technical Assistant (CTA), Chemical Laboratory Technician, or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience as a Chemical Laboratory Technician or Chemical Technical Assistant (CTA)
  • Experience in analytical laboratory work using modern instrumentation
  • Experience with extraction and purification processes (e.g., dispersive SPE)
  • Experience in method development and validation is preferred
  • Experience in mentoring trainees or interns is beneficial
