Job Summary

As a Service Technician for the German Meteorological Service (DWD) in Potsdam, you will be responsible for the independent installation, testing, and maintenance of meteorological measurement and transmission systems at international airports and ground stations. Your daily tasks involve analyzing system malfunctions, preparing hardware components for deployment, and maintaining detailed technical documentation. This role is unique as it combines traditional electrical engineering with specialized meteorological technology, including radioactivity monitoring systems. You will work in a professional environment that supports critical national infrastructure, ensuring the accuracy of weather and climate data. Required Skills

Education

State-certified Technician (Staatlich geprüfter Techniker) in Electrical Engineering or Communications Engineering, or a successfully completed vocational training in a relevant electrical field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in electrical engineering or communications technology
  • Experience in the installation and maintenance of technical systems and equipment
  • Practical knowledge of analog and digital measurement technology
  • Experience working with PC hardware and standard office software

Additional

  • Qualified Electrician (Elektrofachkraft) status required. Must be physically fit for strenuous activities and climbing masts/towers (working at heights). Valid driver's license (Class B) and willingness to travel for several days. Participation in on-call standby system. Must pass security clearance according to §7 LuftSiG and §9 SÜG during the probationary period.
