Job Summary

This role involves the permitting and monitoring of landfills and waste treatment plants for the State Office for Agriculture and the Environment West Mecklenburg (StALU WM) in Schwerin. You will be responsible for processing ongoing planning approval procedures, specifically for the Ihlenberg landfill (Europe's largest DKIII landfill), and conducting environmental impact assessments. Day-to-day tasks include issuing administrative orders, prohibitions, and decommissioning notices under waste management laws, as well as performing regular and ad-hoc inspections. You will also handle administrative offenses, appeals, and legal proceedings while responding to environmental information requests. This position is ideal for a communicative team player with a strong sense of responsibility who wants to contribute to waste management and environmental protection within a professional team of 215 employees. The role offers a secure future within the public sector of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent university degree in environmental technology, environmental sciences, industrial environmental protection, environmental engineering, waste management, or natural sciences.

Experience

  • Professional experience in waste management law and/or immission control is highly desirable
  • Experience in conducting environmental impact assessments and planning approval procedures
  • Experience in the monitoring and inspection of industrial facilities or landfills
  • Experience in processing administrative appeals, legal complaints, and regulatory offenses
