Job Summary
This full-time research position at the Institute of Networked Energy-Efficient Systems (Ruhr University Bochum) focuses on developing next-generation autonomous orchestration for cloud-edge-device continuums. You will design AI-native architectures and algorithms to manage distributed compute, storage, and networking resources, moving beyond static placement to self-optimizing systems. Day-to-day tasks include prototyping solutions on Kubernetes and 5G/6G infrastructures, publishing in high-impact journals, and assisting with university teaching and project management. Required Skills
Education
Above-average Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.
Experience
- Professional experience in designing orchestration architectures for dynamic service placement and scaling
- Experience in prototyping and experimental validation on Kubernetes-based edge clusters
- Proven track record in academic publishing and presenting research findings at international conferences
- Experience in applying machine learning or control-theoretic approaches to network optimization
- Professional experience in teaching assistance or curriculum development in higher education
