Job Summary
This position within the Kruss Lab offers a unique opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research at the intersection of nanotechnology and biophysics. As a Research Associate and Doctoral Candidate, you will investigate 'Quantum Friction'—specifically how light influences the movement of nanomaterials in water. Your daily work will involve utilizing advanced fluorescence microscopy and spectroscopy techniques to gather data, with the ultimate goal of developing optically controlled molecular machines and nanorobots for applications in nanomedicine. This 3-year, part-time (67%) role is ideal for a dedicated researcher looking to contribute to the understanding of nanomaterial interfaces and optical properties while pursuing a PhD. Required Skills
Education
Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Biochemistry, or a related field.
Experience
- Professional experience or academic background in Physical Chemistry, Microscopy, or Spectroscopy
- Experience in handling or studying Nanomaterials
- Demonstrated interest in (bio)physical chemistry and optical methodologies
- Experience in a laboratory research environment
