Job Summary

This role involves supporting internationally leading experimental and clinical kidney research within the Department of Internal Medicine and the Hamburg Center for Kidney Health at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). The Senior Research Technical Assistant will work closely with scientists on demanding research projects, focusing heavily on laboratory techniques. Key daily tasks include preparing samples for Transmission and Scanning Electron Microscopy, performing Ultradünnschnitt preparation, and executing standard molecular biology and protein biochemistry methods such as Western Blot, ELISA, PCR, and Histology (Paraffin and Cryosections, staining). The position also requires laboratory organization, training/onboarding of staff and students, and providing technical support to an international team. Candidates must possess a relevant technical degree (BTA/CTA) or a scientific university degree in fields like Biology or Molecular Life Science, coupled with a strong foundation in molecular biology and protein biochemistry methods. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Biological Technical Assistant (BTA), Chemical Technical Assistant (CTA), Biologylaboratory Technician, or Chemical Laboratory Technician; OR Completed university degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Life Science, or technically applied Biology.

Experience

  • Professional experience in a laboratory environment with BTA tasks/activities (required for EG 9b classification if holding a scientific university degree)
  • Professional experience in sample preparation for Electron Microscopy (desirable)
  • Professional experience in Paraffin and Cryosection preparation (desirable)
