Job Summary

This position at the Institute for Neuroimmunology and Multiple Sclerosis (INIMS) focuses on investigating the reaction of nerve cells to inflammatory cell stress in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) using mouse models. As a PhD student, you will be part of a structured graduate school program funded by the Gemeinnützige Hertiestiftung, providing an international study environment and professional support. Day-to-day, you will apply molecular, cellular, and immunological methods such as cloning, confocal microscopy, and biochemical analyses. You will collaborate closely with neurobiologists and bioinformaticians, present your findings at international conferences, and contribute to scientific publications. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or equivalent in Biology, Biomedicine, Biochemistry, or other Life Sciences.

Experience

  • Professional experience in basic cell biological, biochemical, and/or molecular biological methods
  • Experience in immunological research questions of medical relevance
  • Practical experience with cell culture and flow cytometry is advantageous
  • Experience in handling laboratory animals (FELASA B certificate) is preferred
  • Experience in scientific writing and presentation of research results

  • Proof of full measles immunization is mandatory before starting employment. The position is part-time (65%) and initially limited to three years. Availability starting June 2026 is required.
