Job Summary

This role involves serving as the critical link between cutting-edge technology and its sustainable application in the marine sector. The Obsolescence Manager analyzes new information on technical components, assesses the installed base for risks posed by outdated components, and prioritizes obsolescence reports. Key responsibilities include collaborating closely with engineering teams to evaluate alternatives, developing long-term solutions to secure system operation, and managing the initiation and execution of obsolescence mitigation measures. The ideal candidate possesses a background in electrical engineering or automation/drive systems, coupled with professional experience in obsolescence and configuration management, preferably within a maritime environment. This position offers a varied and responsible role in an international setting, focusing on proactive risk identification and technological challenge resolution in automation and drive technology for commercial and military vessels.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training in an electrical engineering profession or university degree in Electrical Engineering or Automation and Drive Systems

Experience

  • Professional experience in obsolescence management and obsolescence resolution
  • Experience working with automation and drive systems, preferably in a maritime environment
  • Experience in maintaining component databases
  • Experience in configuration management
