Job Summary

This role is based in Augsburg, supporting a leading global provider of large diesel engines and turbomachinery. The Materials Testing Technician will be responsible for executing materials-related first article inspections (Erstmusterprüfung) and comprehensive metallographic analysis. Key daily tasks include planning and conducting tests, independently preparing metallographic samples (grinding, polishing, etching), performing microscopic structure analysis, and evaluating/presenting results to internal interfaces. A crucial part of the job involves coordinating additional specialized analyses and reviewing supplier documentation to ensure quality compliance. The ideal candidate possesses a completed technical education as a Materials Tester or Metallographer, combined with practical experience in metallography, particularly concerning ferrous and cast materials. Success requires knowledge of relevant industry standards, quality requirements, and manufacturing processes, along with a structured and meticulous work ethic.
