Job Summary

This role involves joining a leading European shoe retailer's team in Essen as a (Senior) Data Engineer, focusing on developing and optimizing data pipelines primarily on the Azure platform, specifically using Azure Databricks. Day-to-day responsibilities include building, maintaining, and evolving the Data Lakehouse architecture, designing and implementing automated ETL/ELT processes, and integrating large datasets from various sources. A critical aspect of the role is ensuring data quality, consistency, and security throughout the data lifecycle, while collaborating closely with Data Scientists, Analysts, and other stakeholders in an agile environment. The ideal candidate possesses a degree in Computer Science or a related field, deep knowledge of data modeling (Kimball, Data Vault), and excellent proficiency in Azure Databricks, Spark, and Python or Scala.
