Job Summary

The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), in collaboration with the German Consortium for Translational Cancer Research (DKTK) at the Frankfurt/Mainz partner site, is seeking a part-time Clinical Data Scientist. This role is crucial for advancing data-driven and digital medicine, focusing on the systematic expansion and utilization of health data for research and patient care. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and executing research projects in clinical data sciences, particularly conducting inferential statistical analyses of clinical data and bioprobes from cancer patients. Day-to-day tasks involve developing and validating statistical and Machine Learning methods for phenotyping clinical courses and outcome prediction, performing data curation, feature engineering, and rigorous documentation using R/RStudio and/or Python. This position offers the chance to contribute significantly to cutting-edge cancer research within a highly collaborative, state-of-the-art infrastructure, supporting the mission of achieving a life without cancer.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university degree in Epidemiology, Medicine, Computer Science, Mathematics, Social Sciences, or a comparable field. Relevant doctorate degree is advantageous but not required.

Experience

  • Professional experience in applying statistical analysis methods
  • Experience in scientific work (e.g., dissertation, but not mandatory)
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning procedures is advantageous

  • The position is initially limited to 2 years, with the possibility of extension. Must provide proof of immunity against measles (due to IfSG regulations). Part-time work (70-80%) is required.
