Job Summary

This role seeks a highly qualified Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join the High-Temperature Metallic Materials department at the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) in Berlin. The primary focus is the innovative screening and accelerated characterization of the creep behavior of metallic high-temperature materials using bending creep tests. Day-to-day tasks involve the further development of existing bending creep devices, conducting various creep tests (bending, uniaxial tension/compression), and detailed microstructural analysis using light microscopy, SEM, and EBSD. A key responsibility is correlating microstructure with creep behavior and publishing results in international journals. The ideal candidate possesses comprehensive knowledge of the mechanical behavior and microstructure of metals at high temperatures, practical experience in mechanical testing, and a proven publication record. This fixed-term position offers a modern, well-equipped research environment and the opportunity to contribute innovative ideas to technical safety research.
