Job Summary

This Postdoctoral Researcher role is situated within the Biophysics Department at the GSI Helmholtz Centre, contributing to the ERC Advanced Grant-funded HI-FLASH project. The core focus is advancing Neon-Ion beam therapy using ultra-high dose rates (UHDR) to treat aggressive brain tumors, combining high Linear Energy Transfer (LET) effectiveness with the tissue-sparing FLASH effect. Day-to-day responsibilities include upgrading the UHDR dose monitoring system, designing and implementing preclinical irradiation setups, performing dosimetry and data analysis, and conducting analytical and Monte-Carlo simulations. The successful candidate must hold a PhD in Nuclear or Atomic Physics, possess strong experience in experimental electronics, hardware programming for controllers and readout modules, and expertise in nuclear physics data acquisition systems and ion beam detectors. This position requires intensive interdisciplinary collaboration with biologists and engineers and offers the opportunity to work in a world-leading scientific environment focused on cutting-edge cancer therapy research.
