Job Summary

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join the ALICE department at the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research, a leading particle accelerator facility. As a Post-doctoral Researcher, you will take a leading role in analyzing ALICE 'Run 3' data, specifically focusing on hadrons with open or hidden heavy quarks. Beyond data analysis, you will contribute to the future of the field through simulations and physical performance studies for ALICE 3. This position is highly collaborative and academic in nature, providing the chance to gain significant leadership experience by supervising PhD, Master's, and Bachelor's students. You will work within a multidisciplinary, international environment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in Geneva, supported by the GSI team in Darmstadt. The role is ideal for a scientist eager to apply machine learning and innovative algorithms to complex experimental physics data while contributing to world-class research.

Required Skills

Education

PhD in Physics or an equivalent qualification

Experience

  • Professional experience in data analysis within the field of experimental heavy ion physics
  • Proven experience in software development using C++, ROOT, and Python
  • Experience in the supervision of doctoral, master, or bachelor students
  • Experience with machine learning and the development of novel algorithms is preferred
