Job Summary

This role involves leading and managing the 'Academic Green IT Alliance' project within the newly established Competence Center for Green IT in Lower Saxony's university data centers. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing energy management systems (conforming to standards like DIN EN 50600 and EnEfG) for the university's IT sector. Key day-to-day tasks include analyzing energy consumption, calculating Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), coordinating the Green IT network, and driving efficiency measures such as cooling optimization and sustainable IT procurement. This position is ideal for a goal-oriented professional with a background in IT, engineering, or environmental sciences who is keen to contribute to the university's commitment to 'Circular Economy' and sustainability in the digital age, offering an opportunity to shape statewide energy efficiency concepts in higher education IT infrastructure.

Required Skills

Education

Completed relevant university degree (preferably Master's, alternatively Bachelor's or equivalent) in Informatics, Engineering, Energy Technology, Environmental Sciences, Business Informatics, or comparable fields.

Experience

  • Knowledge and experience in IT infrastructure and/or data center operations (Desirable)
  • Knowledge and experience in energy management, energy efficiency, and monitoring in an IT context (Desirable)
  • Knowledge and experience in planning and executing projects (Desirable)
  • Experience in conducting training sessions/workshops (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of energy management systems (e.g., ISO 50001, DIN EN 50600, EnefG) and relevant tools/software (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of sustainability, Green IT, sustainable procurement, or environmental management (Desirable)
