Job Summary

This role involves the independent execution of a specialized research project focused on process, machine, and material development within additive manufacturing, specifically utilizing Electron Beam Melting (EBM). The Research Associate will be responsible for developing new process monitoring methods for manufacturing refractory materials with targeted properties, contributing to the maintenance of laboratory equipment, and handling organizational tasks. Key activities include designing machines for in-situ EBM process monitoring, advancing EBM scan strategies, and conducting material characterization (mechanical, electrical, and structural properties). The ideal candidate holds a highly successful university degree in Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering, possesses experience with powder bed-based EBM, and has a strong material science understanding, particularly concerning refractory materials. This position offers flexible working hours, a supportive team environment, and close scientific mentorship to support further professional qualification.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master's or equivalent) in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable field. Doctorate/PhD is advantageous.
