Job Summary

The Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) is seeking an Economist to serve as a Scientific Advisor within the expert council for Health and Care (SVR) office. This is a crucial role supporting the SVR in fulfilling its statutory mandate by working at the intersection of policy, science, and administration. Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing and processing specialized literature, procuring and interpreting relevant health data, drafting chapter proposals for expert reports, and preparing/following up on council meetings. The ideal candidate must have a Master's degree or equivalent in Economics (preferably Health Economics), proven scientific research capability (e.g., through a PhD or publications), and deep knowledge of the German healthcare system. The role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to quickly synthesize complex information, and excellent written communication in both German and English. This is a four-year fixed-term position offering flexible working hours and comprehensive benefits.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree in Economics (Master or equivalent), preferably Health Economics. Demonstrated ability for independent scientific work, evidenced by a PhD and/or scientific publications (as primary author).

Experience

  • Professional experience in scientific work/research (e.g., as a research assistant) is advantageous
  • Experience in creating systematic overview reports is advantageous
  • Experience with data procurement, assessment, processing, and interpretation (e.g., creating tables/graphics, data analysis, conducting surveys)
