Job Summary

The Senckenberg Institute for Plant Form and Function (SIP) in Jena is seeking a Junior Group Leader in Digital Collectomics to spearhead the development of modern technologies for collection-based research, with a specific focus on herbaria. This role involves exploring, developing, and implementing methods for collection digitization, automated information extraction and analysis from collection material using AI/ML and 2D/3D imaging. The successful candidate will be responsible for conceptualizing and integrating databases, maintaining plant and herbarium-related databases, and fostering collaborations across Senckenberg institutes and international networks. They will also contribute to teaching at Friedrich Schiller University Jena and help shape the profile of the new Senckenberg Institute.
