Job Summary

The Senckenberg Museum of Natural History Görlitz is seeking an enthusiastic, part-time (50%) Technical Assistant to support the Section Malacology. This two-year temporary position, with the potential for permanency, focuses on the biodiversity of invertebrates, specifically snails and slugs. Day-to-day responsibilities include the technical management and curation of the invertebrate collection (Mollusca), involving inventorying, labelling, and managing both dry and wet collections. The assistant will also maintain the collection database, perform general administrative tasks, and participate in field work to collect samples. Essential qualifications include completed training as a technical assistant for natural history or biological laboratory work, an interest in invertebrate biology, and proficiency in MS Office and data handling. The role requires careful, structured working, strong teamwork, and good written and spoken English skills, offering an attractive position within an internationally recognized research institution.
