Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Research Associate to join the Institute of Biochemistry at the University of Greifswald, working on the newly established DFG-funded Collaborative Research Centre TRR 420 "CONCENTRATE". The role focuses on deciphering molecular and microbial processes that stabilize glycans in the ocean, combining laboratory experiments with field measurements. As part of sub-project KEY (B01), you will primarily investigate deac(et)ylases and sulfatases active against glycans, performing extensive biochemical characterization, including substrate spectrum, multimodularity, and structure-function relationships. This position offers the unique chance to contribute to fundamental research on enzymes, their structure-function relationships, and their role in carbon fluxes, with the possibility of pursuing a PhD within this interdisciplinary research environment. Ideal candidates will possess strong knowledge in biocatalysis, protein purification, and biotransformation, coupled with excellent English language skills and a proactive, team-oriented mindset.
