This role is a part-time (65%) Research Associate position within the Institute of Biochemistry at the University of Greifswald, specifically working on the Collaborative Research Center (SFB 1270) project ELAINE, focusing on electrically active implants. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation and characterization of conductive polyelectrolyte multilayers and 3D substrates, investigating their interaction with human proteins using advanced spectroscopic and microscopic techniques. Key tasks include evaluating the effects of electrical stimulation on cell adhesion and mechanics using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and fluorescence microscopy, and analyzing integrin dynamics. This position is highly attractive as it is tied to a structured doctoral program (Dr. rer. nat.) through the Integrated Research Training Group (IRTG) of the SFB 1270, offering comprehensive scientific and professional skill development alongside thesis supervision.

Required Skills

Education

Above-average scientific university degree (Master’s/Diploma) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, (Bio)Physics, Materials Science, Environmental Sciences, or a comparable field. Enrollment in a doctoral program (Dr. rer. nat.) is mandatory.

Experience

  • Professional experience in experimental scientific work within Biophysical Chemistry
  • In-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of biophysical methods (AFM, Fluorescence Microscopy, QCM)
  • Experience with protein-material interactions, cell culture, and liposome preparation
  • Experience working collaboratively with various research groups
