Job Summary

The Thünen Institute for Fisheries Ecology is seeking a dedicated Technical Assistant specializing in Alpha-Spectrometry and Radioecology to join their Marine Environment team in Bremerhaven. This critical, full-time, permanent role involves conducting radiochemical analyses on fish, crustaceans, shellfish, and aquatic plants to measure contamination from radioactive substances, primarily focusing on Plutonium and Americium isotopes, as well as supporting Strontium-90 and Gamma spectrometry. Day-to-day tasks include performing complex chemical separation methods, operating and maintaining measurement technology, and potentially serving as a Radiation Protection Officer. The successful candidate must have a background as a Chemical-Technical Assistant or Chemical Laboratory Technician, possess strong organizational skills, and be comfortable handling radioactive materials safely. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to statutory environmental monitoring, develop new analytical procedures, and support research expeditions within a flexible, interdisciplinary research environment.
