Job Summary

The Bergische Universität Wuppertal is seeking a highly qualified Research Associate to independently manage a sub-project focused on process and material development for binder-based additive manufacturing of ceramics. Key responsibilities include optimizing feedstock properties, printing parameters, and heat treatments, alongside conducting comprehensive material analyses. The role requires documentation, presentation of scientific results, and the creative pursuit of new research approaches in additive manufacturing. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemistry, possesses a strong understanding of materials science and macromolecular chemistry, and has excellent knowledge and experience in binder-based additive manufacturing and the heat treatment/sintering of inorganic materials. This is a fixed-term qualifying position (27 months, with potential extension) offering flexible hours, a motivating team environment, and strong scientific support for career advancement.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master's or equivalent) in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemistry with very good results. Doctorate/PhD is advantageous.

Experience

  • Professional experience in binder-based additive manufacturing for inorganic materials
  • Experience with heat treatment and sintering of inorganic materials
  • Experience in research and development, preferably within materials science
