Job Summary

This role involves serving as a responsible IT System Architect within the Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy (BKG), specifically supporting the Geodetic Observatory Wettzell's unique scientific infrastructure, which includes large radiotelescopes. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing and evolving the IT system architecture, integrating complex measurement, control, monitoring, and data acquisition systems into a stable and maintainable infrastructure. Key responsibilities also include ensuring the stable operation of these critical IT systems, performing monitoring and error analysis, and implementing robust security concepts aligned with critical infrastructure standards. Candidates must hold a Master's degree in a relevant technical or scientific field and demonstrate motivation to uphold standards like ISO 9001 and ISO 27001. This is a five-year fixed-term contract offering flexible working hours and comprehensive benefits at the Wettzell/Bad Kötzting location.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree (or equivalent University Diploma) in Computer Science, Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, Geodesy, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable technical-scientific field.

Experience

  • Professional experience working in projects related to IT system architecture or integration
  • Experience ensuring stable operation of complex IT systems
  • Experience implementing security concepts for sensitive infrastructure
  • Programming knowledge (advantageous)
  • Experience in cybersecurity (advantageous)
