Job Summary

This role involves leading the Core Facility for Semiconductor Epitaxy at the Marburg Center for Quantum Materials and sustainable Technologies (mar.quest), focusing on advanced high-technology systems like metal-organic vapor-phase epitaxy (MOVPE) and associated characterization techniques (XRD, AFM, SEM). The Laboratory Manager will be responsible for defining and enforcing safety regulations, particularly regarding toxic and pyrophoric chemicals, and acting as the official Safety Officer. Key responsibilities also include managing equipment operation, maintenance, and user access, as well as conceptualizing new equipment upgrades and extensions. The ideal candidate must possess a scientific or engineering degree with a focus on semiconductor or nanotechnology, proven expertise in MOVPE, semiconductor characterization, and the safe handling of hazardous materials. Strong project management, IT, and data management skills are essential, alongside fluent proficiency in both German and English, and excellent teamwork and communication abilities.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university degree (Diploma, Master, or equivalent) in natural sciences or engineering with a focus on semiconductor or nanotechnology

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in metal-organic vapor-phase epitaxy (MOVPE)
  • Demonstrated experience in characterizing semiconductors and semiconductor components using structural and electrical methods
  • Demonstrated experience in handling toxic and pyrophoric chemicals and gases, especially laboratory safety
  • Demonstrated practical experience in conducting research and industrial projects
