Job Summary
This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated scientist to join the Institute for Physiology and Pathophysiology at Philipps University Marburg as a part-time (50%) Research Associate and Doctoral Candidate. The role focuses on investigating ion channels, specifically their molecular and functional composition and their role in disease mechanisms. Day-to-day tasks involve utilizing advanced electrophysiological techniques (TEVC, Patch-Clamp, single-channel measurements), molecular biology/biochemistry (Mutagenesis, Western Blot), and fluorescence microscopy. The successful candidate will work with model organisms, primarily the African clawed frog (Xenopus laevis oocyte system) and zebrafish (Danio rerio). This position offers the chance for independent scientific work, serving the candidate's own academic qualification (PhD), within a supportive research environment focused on professional development.
Required Skills
Education
Completed scientific university degree (Diploma, Master, or equivalent) in Human Biology, Biology, or comparable fields
Experience
- Experience with electrophysiological techniques
- Experience with molecular biological/biochemical methods
- Basic knowledge of microscopic/fluorescence microscopic work
