Job Summary

This role is for an experienced Platform Engineer to join the Defence Innovation Center, focusing on providing experimental software development and IT lab environments for the German Federal Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) and its partners. The core mission is to enable Software, AI, and Data teams to operate their applications quickly, securely, and scalably within a hybrid cloud environment (Private Cloud / On-Prem Kubernetes), championing the 'You build it, you run it' philosophy. Day-to-day tasks involve designing and evolving the central Kubernetes container platform as a self-service product, automating infrastructure provisioning using Terraform and Ansible, and implementing robust Monitoring, Logging, and Tracing solutions (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK). The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in container orchestration, infrastructure as code, Linux systems, and scripting, and will act as a technical mentor while driving architectural decisions in an agile, high-impact environment focused on national security.
