Job Summary

The Federal Institute for Real Estate (BImA), the central real estate service provider for the German federal government, is seeking an IT System Administrator specializing in Data Center Operations based in Bonn. This critical role involves managing and optimizing the IT infrastructure across two data centers, which currently host a virtualized Microsoft environment utilizing over 120 physical servers, primarily running Microsoft Hyper-V and some VMware. Day-to-day responsibilities include the maintenance and expansion of hardware (servers, storage, network, WLAN), comprehensive administration of Windows Servers, and the conceptualization and operation of heterogeneous LAN/WAN environments. The administrator will also be responsible for documentation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and coordinating with external service providers. This position requires a strategic, solution-oriented professional with strong practical skills in IT components and knowledge of ITIL Service Operation processes, ensuring the secure and seamless operation of BImA's digital nervous system.

Required Skills

Education

Completed technical university degree (Bachelor or FH degree) in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Industrial Engineering, or comparable qualification. Alternatively, eligibility for the higher technical service career track.

Experience

  • Profound knowledge of hardware, network components, and client-side operating systems
  • Practical skills in handling IT and network components
  • Knowledge of centralized application deployment
