Job Summary

The Diocese of Speyer is seeking an engaged Climate Protection Manager to spearhead its sustainability initiatives and guide diocesan structures toward effective climate protection. This pivotal role involves the creation of an integrated climate protection concept, including energy and greenhouse gas balancing across real estate, mobility, procurement, and IT infrastructure. Day-to-day tasks include developing and implementing initial measures, coordinating internal processes, organizing workshops, and managing public relations efforts related to climate action. The ideal candidate holds a university degree in Environmental Engineering, Energy Technology, or a related field, possesses comprehensive knowledge and professional experience in climate protection and sustainability, and demonstrates strong project management and communication skills. This is a unique two-year fixed-term project position, funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, offering the opportunity to apply specialized expertise within a values-oriented, ecclesiastical environment.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (or equivalent qualification) in Environmental Engineering, Energy and Environmental Technology, Supply/Building Technology, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Environmental and Sustainability Science

Experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge and professional experience in climate protection, energy and environmental management, and sustainability
  • Experience in public relations
  • Competence in project development and steering
  • Experience with ecclesiastical structures and working with volunteers is beneficial
