Job Summary

This position offers a highly specialized opportunity as a Research Associate and PhD Student within the DFG-funded Research Training Group (RTG 2947) "AirMetro" at TUD Dresden University of Technology. The successful candidate will focus on the development of fail-safe, distributed Digital Twins (DTs) crucial for Innovative Air Mobility (IAM) operations, specifically addressing the risks associated with centralized cloud-based systems in urban environments. Day-to-day work involves rigorous academic research, developing methods for integrating urban operational environments with UAV characteristics, and incorporating simulated sensor data (digital shadow) to ensure cyber-physical consistency. A key technical focus is developing methods for distributing bigraphical world models using Conflict-free Replicated Data Types (Bigraph-CRDT) to enhance system resilience and availability. Furthermore, the role involves exploring immersive spatial interfaces (XR: AR/VR) for managing UAV swarms in applications like disaster response and logistics. This interdisciplinary role provides structured PhD training and international collaboration opportunities.
