Job Summary

The University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) is seeking an IT Generalist to join the Department of Research and Integrative Systems, focusing on supporting the Center for Translational Immunology (HCTI). This role involves providing critical on-site IT support and infrastructure management for research projects, including managing workstations, NAS, WLAN, printers, and backup solutions. You will be responsible for the independent planning, conception, and provision of central IT infrastructure, ensuring compliance with data security and privacy policies, and continuously improving IT solutions through process analysis. This position requires strong technical knowledge across various client environments (Linux, iOS, Windows), system administration experience, and foundational knowledge of enterprise IT structures (virtualization, storage, networking). You will act as a key liaison, advising and training researchers while coordinating administrative tasks and IT-related projects to drive biomedical science forward. The initial contract is for two years, with the intention of permanent employment.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university degree in a relevant IT field or comparable field, or equivalent skills and experience.

Experience

  • Professional experience in IT or comparable field
  • At least 4 years of relevant professional experience (if degree is not in a specific IT field)

  • Must provide complete immunization or immunity proof against the measles virus before employment begins; Position is initially limited to two years (fixed-term contract).
