Job Summary

This role involves taking responsibility for the installation, administration, and continuous improvement of complex LAN and WAN infrastructures for the Saxon Police across over 300 locations. Key day-to-day tasks include advanced monitoring, system updates, implementing network access protection, and conceptualizing Software-Defined Network (SDN) technologies. The administrator will also drive the expansion of the police's Wide Area Network (WAN PolSN) and provide 3rd-level support for sustainable fault resolution. Candidates must possess a degree or vocational training in an IT field, coupled with professional experience operating complex Cisco components and knowledge of VoIP, network management systems, and security techniques. This position offers a meaningful, permanent role contributing directly to internal security and critical infrastructure protection within a supportive, professional public service environment.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree in an IT field (e.g., Computer Science, Information and Communication Technology, Telecommunications) or a completed, minimum three-year vocational training in the IT sector.

Experience

  • Professional experience operating complex LAN and WAN infrastructures
  • Professional experience operating complex Cisco components
  • Professional experience in Voice Over IP (VoIP) environments
  • Experience with network management systems from Cisco
  • Experience in Performance and Capacity Management, System-Management, Monitoring tools, and IT Service Management
  • Experience with Security Techniques (System hardening, Access protection)
