Job Summary

This role involves leading the development and implementation of an integrated climate protection concept for the Diocese of Speyer, focusing on achieving a sustainable and climate-friendly future across diocesan structures. The manager will be responsible for creating energy and greenhouse gas balances for real estate, mobility, procurement, and IT infrastructure. Key tasks include project and process management for the climate concept, developing initial implementation measures, and providing consulting services to parishes and church institutions. The successful candidate will drive innovative projects, coordinate internal administration tasks, organize workshops, and engage in public relations and stakeholder networking. This is a two-year fixed-term project position, funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, offering a chance to apply environmental expertise within a values-driven, ecclesiastical environment.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (or equivalent qualification) in Environmental Engineering, Energy and Environmental Technology, Supply/Building Technology, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Environmental and Sustainability Science

Experience

  • Comprehensive professional experience in climate protection, energy and environmental management, and sustainability
  • Experience in project development and steering
  • Experience in public relations and media affinity
  • Experience with ecclesiastical structures and working with volunteers (beneficial)
