Job Summary

The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV), Germany's domestic intelligence service, is seeking an Officer for Futures Research to join their team in Cologne or Berlin. This role involves applying strong analytical skills and methodological expertise in Futures Research and Strategic Foresight. The successful candidate will act as an internal service provider, managing the creation of future analyses and deriving strategic implications in collaboration with specialist departments and state authorities. A core focus of the position is planning, executing, and moderating formats for developing future scenarios, such as Delphi and Scenario techniques, and presenting the results to relevant stakeholders. As part of the Center for Analysis and Research (ZAF), the officer will also support and deputize for the department management, contributing significantly to the security policy environment of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master/Diplom univ.) with a minimum grade of "good" in History, Computer Science, Mathematics, Psychology, Political Science, Communication Science/Journalism, Social Sciences (preferably Futures Research), or Security Studies.

Experience

  • Minimum two years of relevant practical application experience in Futures Research using various methods (e.g., Delphi and/or Scenario Technique)
  • Proven experience in leading projects
  • Experience in moderating larger groups
