Job Summary

This role involves strengthening quality assurance processes within the State Office for Geoinformation and Rural Development (LGL) in Stuttgart, focusing specifically on cartographic data production. The specialist will primarily contribute to building and maintaining a comprehensive font and symbol database for all maps and derived cartographic products (print, web, and basemap.de context). Key responsibilities include optimizing existing developments, implementing automated quality mechanisms for specialized data, analyzing map production workflows, and supporting the creation of large and medium-scale map series. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Cartography or Geoinformatics, possesses fundamental knowledge of GI systems like QGIS or ArcGIS Pro, and is proficient in database management (PostgreSQL/PostGIS) and workflow creation (FME Workbenches). Success requires a structured, results-oriented approach, strong team and communication skills, and a willingness to quickly adapt to new technologies.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Diplom [FH] or Bachelor of Science) in Cartography, Geoinformatics, or an equivalent qualification

Experience

  • Professional experience in cartography, geoinformatics, or a comparable field
  • Experience with relevant GI systems such as QGIS or ArcGIS Pro
  • Experience in creating FME Workflows (Workbenches) and handling databases
