PhD Student in Quantum Algorithms for Fluid and Environmental Flow Modelling | PhD Student (f/m/d) in Quantum Algorithms for Fluid and Environmental Flow Modelling 2026/14 (2187)
HELMHOLTZ-ZENTRUM DRESD EN-ROSSENDORF E.V.
Job Summary
This PhD position focuses on developing and implementing advanced numerical and algorithmic methods for modeling complex fluid-dynamical and environmental systems. The role involves pioneering research into quantum and hybrid quantum-classical algorithms specifically designed to solve partial differential equations (PDEs). Key responsibilities include implementing, testing, and benchmarking these computational methods on both high-performance computing (HPC) and emerging quantum computing platforms, analyzing results against classical models, and contributing significantly to scientific publications and project documentation. Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related computational field, demonstrating strong foundational knowledge in scientific computing, algorithmic modeling, and the numerical solution of PDEs. Proficiency in Python and C/C++ programming, coupled with familiarity with Linux environments and numerical libraries, is essential for success in this cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research role in Görlitz.
