Job Summary

This role is based at the Institute of Resource Ecology within the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR). The successful candidate will focus on the characterization of ion-irradiated alloys to support research into protecting humans and the environment from pollutants. Day-to-day responsibilities include sample preparation using electrolytic methods and focused ion beams (FIB), as well as performing advanced post-irradiation examinations. You will utilize (Scanning) Transmission Electron Microscopy ((S)TEM) to analyze defect structures, such as Burgers vector analysis, and quantify defect sizes and densities. Additionally, you will perform elemental distribution analysis at grain boundaries using Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX). This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional looking to contribute to high-level materials science research within a globally networked scientific community. The role offers attractive public service benefits, including flexible working hours, mobile work options, and a comprehensive health management program.
