Job Summary

This PhD position focuses on pioneering research into dynamic process models and value chains for producing green methanol using renewable energy sources. The successful candidate will analyze and evaluate various green methanol technologies based on efficiency, cost, and environmental impact. Key tasks include developing dynamic process models for electrified methanol processes operating under fluctuating power supply, simulating and optimizing system behavior, and establishing a robust technology and process database. Furthermore, the role involves conducting techno-economic analyses of regional methanol production and supply chains across Europe. Candidates should possess a Master’s degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, coupled with expertise in thermodynamics, process control, and programming skills (e.g., Matlab, Python). This is an attractive opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research within a structured doctoral program at the Helmholtz Center Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), requiring self-discipline and strong communication skills in an international setting.
