Job Summary
The Senckenberg Society for Nature Research is seeking a Software Developer to join the Data and Modeling Center in Frankfurt. This role is crucial for implementing national and international research data infrastructures, specifically focusing on geo- and biodiversity data. Day-to-day tasks involve implementing a platform for the AI4WildLIVE project that combines AI-based analysis with Citizen Science to understand environmental changes. You will be responsible for developing innovative data models and corresponding APIs to provide data to large research data infrastructures like Biodiversity Meets Data and FAIRagro. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field, possesses strong programming skills (Python, Java, JavaScript), practical experience with web frameworks (Django, Spring), and familiarity with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). This position offers the chance to contribute to impactful research on biological diversity within an internationally recognized institution.
Required Skills
Education
University or University of Applied Sciences degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Geoinformatics, (Bio-)Physics, or comparable qualification related to Data Processing / AI-Pipelines, Service Development, or Data Modeling
Experience
- Practical experience in programming, especially with web frameworks
- Professional experience in developing Data Processing / AI-Pipelines, service development, or data modeling
- Ability to implement software solutions independently and in close discussion with partners
Languages
Additional
- Fixed-term contract for 2 years (temporary position). Willingness for occasional business travel for training and meetings.
