Job Summary
This role seeks a dedicated Linux Platform Specialist in Berlin to manage and advance the technical infrastructure supporting the German Pension Insurance's critical IT systems. The specialist will be responsible for coordinating server setup, implementing software updates for development tools, and ensuring robust platform operations based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Core duties include designing and executing strategies for capacity management, system backup, monitoring, and archiving. A significant part of the job involves creating and maintaining automation scripts to increase efficiency and acting as a key consultant for development teams regarding code standards and processes. The ideal candidate possesses in-depth practical experience in Linux administration, proficiency in Python and Linux Shell scripting, and familiarity with complex operational environments. Strong communication skills and fluent German are mandatory for success in this influential support and development role.
Required Skills
Education
Successful completion of higher education (Bachelor, Diploma FH) in IT or equivalent qualification (e.g., IT-specific qualification), OR completed vocational training in IT or comparable multi-year practical experience in IT.
Experience
- Long-term relevant professional experience in IT
- In-depth knowledge and practical experience administering the Linux operating system
- Practical experience with complex development, release, and operational environments
- Professional experience with Python and Linux Shell programming
Languages
Additional
- Knowledge of Fujitsu Siemens open UTM and/or Visual Cobol is desirable. High customer orientation, communication, and team skills required.
