Job Summary

This central laboratory role seeks a highly reliable and motivated Research Technician to provide comprehensive technical and organizational support within the Pediatric Oncology, Hematology, and Clinical Immunology department at the University Hospital Düsseldorf. The successful candidate will independently execute routine and advanced laboratory techniques, including mammalian tissue culture, PCR/qPCR, immunoblotting, and basic cloning, supporting research focused on fundamental mechanisms of childhood cancer, oncogenic signaling, and therapy optimization. A substantial component of the role involves laboratory administration, including managing consumables, coordinating equipment maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety regulations (biosafety, waste disposal), and onboarding new lab members. This is a critical position ensuring the smooth operation of molecular and cellular biology activities within a leading, interdisciplinary research environment that is part of major national and international cancer research consortia.

Required Skills

Education

Completed training as a Biological-Technical Assistant (BTA), Medical-Technical Assistant (MTA), Biology Laboratory Technician, or a Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, molecular life sciences, or a related field.

Experience

  • Very good practical experience with standard molecular biology and cell culture techniques
  • Professional experience in a laboratory-based qualification or related field
